ESG

At IMPACT, ESG has always been an integral part of our operations. Our mission is to ensure our Company respects and includes affected communities where we operate. For more than 17 years, we have been industry leaders when it comes to ESG.

Being one of the largest employers in the areas of Mexico in which we work - we have a responsibility to ensure that we leave communities in a better position than when we arrived. With over 500 years of mining history in the region, we are fortunate to partner with communities whereby several generations have been involved in mining activity.

AGAVE & CARBON OFFSET

Agave plants can reduce and isolate huge amounts of atmospheric carbon dioxide. These plants produce more biomass both above and below ground, compared to any other plant species and can absorb and store the dry weight equivalent of 30-60 tons of carbon dioxide per hectare, per year. They are ideal for arid and hot climates.

Once established, agave plants require no irrigation and are largely resistant to rising temperatures and drought. As part of a long-running pilot project across the Guadalupe mining district and its tailings facilities, the Company-working with local farmers-has planted approximately 3,700 agave plants. These are first cultivated in the Company's greenhouse before being transferred to the field. An additional 3,700 plants are scheduled for planting over the next two years.

TREE PLANTING/REFORESTATION

Using a ratio of 6.7 trees planted for each tree felled, the Company has launched an aggressive reforestation campaign targeting 3,000 trees of various species in areas disturbed by current mining activities. This initiative, undertaken with the municipal presidency and the Technological Baccalaureate Center, began in 2021.

Since 2022, additional planting has been carried out as part of permitting for the new tailings facility #3 and as part of a broader effort to restore historically impacted mining areas. In partnership with the municipality and the Technological Baccalaureate Center, the Company has planted more than 18,800 native trees to date, with a further 10,000 planned over the coming years.
